Our Ambassadors

Ambassadors are appointed by the Trustee Board for a 3 year term (which is renewable). Our Ambassadors are influential supporters, across a wide range of industries, who help us to promote, seek and create opportunities for the Charity to raise money or its profile.


Sir David Frost Kt OBE has given his support to the charity for over 3 decades and co-organises the annual celebrity cricket day with Chairman, Sir Victor Blank. He is famous for his interviews with various political figures, the most notable being former US President Richard Nixon.

Marcus Setchell CVO FRCS, FRCSEd, FRCOG is a leading British obstetrician and gynaecologist. Marcus was a trustee of Wellbeing of Women for over ten years until he stepped down in 2011. He is the founder of Wellbeing’s Hike for Hope challenge events which brought trekkers to the Sinai Desert, India, Kenya and Morocco.

Claire Anstee is a former Lady Mayoress for the City of London. Her husband Nick Anstee was the 682nd Lord Mayor of the City of London, from 2009 to 2010.

Professor Sir Sabaratnam Arulkumaran is a past president of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and is the current President of FIGO – the International Federation for Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He has been in clinical practice for 37 years combined with 25 years of research and teaching into improving the quality of life for women and newborn babies. Dr Arulkumaran considers the development of a “clinical dashboard” to provide clinicians with relevant and timely information amongst his key achievements. He is a champion of medical research and training and is a great advocate of the grants Wellbeing of Women funds.

Ann Bishop is the Founder and Managing Director of Indepen Ltd, a consulting firm based in London. She has extensive experience of financial services, retail and creative businesses as well as infrastructure businesses in the UK and overseas. Before founding Indepen in 1990, Ann worked in the Strategy Group in Deloitte’s management consultancy division.

Karren Brady is currently the vice-chairman of West Ham United, as well as a mentor on the television show, The Apprentice and Junior Apprentice. Previously, Karren was Managing Director of Birmingham City Football Club from 1993 to 2009. In addition to being an ambassador at Wellbeing of Women, Karren is also a non-Executive Director of Arcadia and a consultant to Simon Cowell’s TV company Simco.

Fiona Bruce is a British journalist, newsreader and television presenter best known for her work on BBC News and the Antiques Roadshow. Her most recent documentary project was a BBC documentary in 2011 on three of the Queen’s official residences – Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and Holyrood House.

Dr Ed Coats is a trainee Obstetric and Gynaecological doctor in Bristol. In 2009, he was chosen to join James Cracknell and Ben Fogle on their race to the South Pole, the first attempt of its kind since Captain Scott was beaten by Amundsen in 1912. In 2010 his ’30 at 30′ project saw him attempt thirty adventurous challenges in the UK, including a Thames swim, a Coast to Coast race across Scotland and an endurance marathon on Dartmoor.

Alice Fresson is currently Head of Client Relationships at Elite Associates – an award-winning luxury retail recruitment consultancy, with clients from some of the most prestigious brands in the world. She is also a Chartered Accountant, a member of 100 Women in Hedge Funds and a member of the Sorority – a worldwide network connecting inspirational women in different industries. She is a long-term supporter of Wellbeing of Women, having lost her mother to cancer at a young age.

Baroness Jenkin of Kennington is a conservative member of the House of Lords and is currently the co-chair of the Women2Win campaign to elect more conservative female MPs into parliament. She was created a life peer in 2011 for her charitable and political work and has a background in PR consultancy.

Mei Sim Lai OBE DL FCA FCCA is the Founder and Principal of LaiPeters & Co and Managing Director of the management and consulting firm LaiPeters Limited. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales and a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. She is a member of the ACCA UK Small Business Committee and author of their publication on Flowcharting for Auditors and Accountants. Mei Sim was our first Lord Mayor’s Appeal Ambassador and has gone on to network Wellbeing of Women throughout the City of London. She was awarded an OBE in the 2004 New Year Honours for services to Equal Opportunities.

Maureen Leach MBE is the Vice President of the Wellbeing of Women Sheffield branch. She is also a founder member of the branch which has been going for over 40 years. She received her MBE in 1991 for her charitable services to Wellbeing.

Bunty Lewis is one of our long standing supporters. Over the last four decades she has worked to raise substantial sums of money for Wellbeing of Women. Her husband, Dr Thomas Lewis, was a distinguished obstetrician and gynaecologist.

Kate Nealon is currently a Non-Executive Director with Argo Group International Holdings Ltd and formerly at Cable and Wireless and Shire. She is also a Senior Associate at the Judge Business School at Cambridge University. Previously, she was the Head of Legal and Compliance at Standard Chartered Bank for many years.

Amanda Ross is the Joint CEO of Cactus TV- a production company specialising in in broad based Entertainment, Features and Chat Shows including The TV Book Club, Saturday Kitchen Live, Hairy Bikers Food Tour of Britain, and Richard & Judy. She has won numerous Awards for her contribution to the British publishing industry including a Royal Television Society Award in 2008.

Dr Miriam Stoppard OBE is a well-known media doctor and was a trustee of Wellbeing for many years. When Miriam retired from the Trustee Board in 2009 she agreed to become one of our first Ambassadors. She received an OBE in the New Year's Honour List for her services to healthcare and charity.

Carol Vorderman MBE is a television presenter, best known for her co-hosting of the television show Countdown from 1982-2008. She is currently a co-host on ITV’s Loose Women and the presenter of Food Glorious Food on ITV. Carol was awarded a MBE for "services to broadcasting" in the Queen's Birthday Honours in June 2000 and was voted the UK’s female Rear of the Year award in 2011.
